REFLEXOLOGY FOR SLEEP


Sleep is one of the most powerful natural healers and your health and wellbeing can suffer greatly from lack of sleep. Reflexology, however, is among the most effective treatments for sleep deprivation. Give Reflexology a try if you have exhausted all other options, such as sheep counting, star gazing and sleep medicines, without success.

SLEEP, OR LACK OF IT
When you close your eyes and fall asleep, you enter into another consciousness. You have a considerably lower level of muscle activity and are completely unaware of your surroundings. Your body is able to carry out its regenerative processes in peace. In the morning, you wake up with a huge yawn, feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. Or you don't.

Regular stress, a new baby, illness, anxiety, and other problems could keep you up all night. You might find that you can't sleep at all or you are waking up at 3am. You could restlessly toss and turn until 20 minutes before your alarm goes off. You may realise you're late for work after snoozing for "just 5 minutes more". You could be working late into night and when you eventually fall asleep you keep waking up every few minutes, worrying that you will overhear your alarm. If this continues, you may build up a “sleep debt” which is very difficult to pay off, and start to experience insomnia.

REFLEXOLOGY FOR BETTER SLEEP
Foot Reflexology for sleep can be used as a sleep aid to induce a deep level of relaxation. It could make you feel as though you've just taken a power nap or you might get so sleepy that you can't wait to get into bed. Reflexology offers many benefits, from lowering stress, tension, and anxiety, to promoting hormonal balance and helping you to sound sleep. Needless to say, a good sleep will increase melatonin production and overall wellbeing.

Melatonin is a neurohormone that aids in the synchronisation of circadian rhythms (the sleep-wake timing). It is also involved in blood pressure regulation, reproduction, and oxidative stress defence (antioxidant), and fighting free radicals in our bodies. It interacts with our immune system, and some studies* suggest that it may be useful in fighting infectious, viral, and bacterial diseases. Melatonin is activated by darkness, and any light reduces its production. As a result, if you have sleep issues, your melatonin levels may be low and your health may start to deteriorate.

HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR SLEEP
There is a lot of information available to help you sleep. If you are experiencing symptoms of insomnia or have other concerns about your sleep, please consult your doctor.
Look after your nutrition, avoid stimulants (coffee, strong tea) after 5 pm, exercise, if possible outdoors, and reduce time in front of the screens (including phones). It is best to keep your electronics as far away from your bed as possible, and ensure that your bedroom is completely dark when you go to sleep.

Maintain a regular sleep schedule of 6-8 hours per night and establish a sleeping routine - go to bed at the same time every night and wake up at the same time every morning, even on weekends.

And try Reflexology, of course!

I provide mobile reflexology services, which means that I come to you. The booking calendar will offer slots a week ahead, however, there might be free slots available earlier. If you wish an earlier slot, here are options:
1 - When selecting Day and Time, choose “Join our waitlist”
2 - Book the first available slot and text me with your preferred day and time to reschedule. If I have availability, I will book you in. If not, I will offer you alternative days and times. Please do not leave voice messages (or if you do, follow up with text) as the recording is often unclear or incomplete.
3 - To book a Reflexology for someone else, please opt for a Gift Voucher.

Upon confirmation of booking you will receive a link to download a leaflet on setting up your home for the Reflexology treatment. Please follow the suggestions as this will reduce the setting up time and let you enjoy Reflexology longer.

Please consider booking a free online consultation prior to the treatment to:
- Complete the health questionnaire ahead of the treatment (and enjoy Reflexology 10 minutes longer)
- Ask me any questions relevant to Reflexology, my qualifications and treatment
- Get to know me and what I look like before I knock on your door (safety).

If you are not comfortable with using computers or Zoom, please leave a note when booking and I will arrange alternative options.

Due to the nature of my work, I am not always able to answer my phone. If you leave a voice message, please also text your name, phone number, and the best time to call you back. I've noticed that voice messages are almost always muffled or cut off.

- self-testing with Rapid Lateral Test a few hours before visiting my clients
- changing my work clothes and disinfecting between clients
- hygiene procedures
- Risk Assessment before the treatment
- not using public transport
